What will I be doing?
We're working to improve the lives of children in Somerset - and you'll be a key part of that.

As well as providing a administrative support to a group of Senior Children's Services Managers your day-to-day work will involve:


  • Making appointments/organising meetings and booking venues
  • Taking notes at formal/ informal meetings.
  • Scheduling and coordinating work programmes and meetings
  • Attending and contributing to meetings/workshops as requested to contribute to the development and improvement of Children Commissioning Services
  • Following the meetings investigating/researching material and organising and maintaining database systems/recording systems
  • Using and manipulating reporting and recording systems to provide senior officers with management information
  • Working with Senior Management to improve the delivery of Services.

What kind of experience or qualifications do I need?
We offer ongoing support, training and guidance to help you be the best you can be.

But it will really help if you have:

  • A good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Including Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Teams and One Note.
  • Experience of taking action points/ Minutes at meetings.
  • Good organisational and communication skills with welldeveloped interpersonal skill.
  • Experience working with colleagues to tackle challenges and resolving problems

Anything else I should know?

From 1 April 2023 the County and District councils in Somerset will be replaced by a new single unitary authority - Somerset Council.

It's an exciting time to join us as we work together with the four district councils to deliver the new council for Somerset.

The salary for this role is £21,189 - £21,968 per annum.
