Position Overview


Based at our site in Simonswood, on the border of Merseyside and Lancashire, Puratos are seeking a
QA Team Leader to join our site team.

This is a NEW role in our team; supervising 3 QA Technicians across 2 shifts.


The role is full time working Monday to Friday, and you will need to be flexible to work on a rotating shift pattern, covering shifts between 06:00-22:00, in line with business and department needs.

The role is commutable from the Liverpool/Southport/Skelmersdale/St Helens/Wigan areas.

Responsibilities
The QA Team Leader is a new role required for the ongoing development of the Puratos site in Simonswood.


Reporting to the Compliance Manager, the QA Team Leader will be responsible for ensuring all quality controls and standard procedures are in place across the production and goods in/goods out process; identifying areas for improvement and playing an active role in the resolution of any non conformances.


In addition to completing QA duties, the QA Team Leader will be responsible for the following:

  • Supervision of the QA Technicians; acting as the first contact point for all queries and guiding team members on required daily/weekly tasks.
  • Ensuring that all schedules and procedures are completed according to timescales, SOPs and safety controls.
  • Reporting, investigating and resolving any nonconformances, issues or queries in a timely and effective manner.
  • Briefing and training team members to the required standards.
  • Escalating issues to the management team as appropriate and playing an active role in the resolution of any problems.
  • Supporting with customer complaint investigations and resolutions.
  • Provide support during audits and visits.
  • Complete GMP and hygiene auditing and lead on the close out of any actions.
  • Ordering consumables where required.
  • Micro sample recording and analysis.
  • Calibrating and maintaining lab equipment.
  • Introducing new controls and measures to improve quality performance.
  • Supporting the Compliance Manager with other ad hoc requests in line with the scope of the job role.

Profile

  • Prior experience (3 years+) of quality control and compliance within food manufacturing or another relevant production environment/industry
  • Have Food Safety and HACCP qualifications at Level
  • Be experienced and trained in internal auditing
  • Have experience of supervising/managing a team
  • Have experience of working to Quality Management Systems
  • Have experience or understanding of BRC audits and achieving compliance to other food industry standards/accreditations
  • Be a confident user of computers and new technology
  • Have good written & verbal communication skills
  • Be a proven team player, able to work collaboratively at all levels and build partnerships with crossfunctional teams.
  • Have excellent attention to detail and be a methodical worker with strong organisation skills
