What we are looking for:


A genuinely outstanding and exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced 3+ years PQE Solicitor or Barrister to join our Healthcare law inhouse team.

The opportunity will suit a confident Lawyer with a strong track record of managing complex cases matched with strong
advocacy skills.
You will support the Head of Legal Services in the provision of a dedicated in-house legal service, through provision of professional management
of the Trust inquest, advisory and Court of Protection matters as well as the management of complex claims.
Your specialist legal expertise will be an addition to our dedicated in-house Legal Team which effectively functions as a one stop shop for all
Trust's Healthcare legal needs on a broad range of matters.

The role of the Deputy Head of Legal Services is to support the Head of Legal Services in the provision of a dedicated in-house legal service,
through provision of professional management of the Trust inquest, advisory and Court of Protection matters as well as the management of
complex claims.

The Legal in-house team provides cross hospital site services at University Hospital Lewisham and Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Woolwich

The role of the Deputy Head of Legal Services is to
support the Head of Legal Services in the provision of
a dedicated in-house legal service, through provision
of professional management of the Trust inquest,
advisory and Court of Protection matters as well as the
management of complex claims.


Key Result Areas & Performance:

The Deputy Head of Legal Services will be required to


undertake the following duties:

Claims**:

' Manage a portfolio of high-risk claims: providing
specialist advice and support to clinicians
on liability and quantum to further the aim
of defending such claims against the Trust.
Advocating the position of the Trust as the
Defendant where there may be opposing views
with external stakeholders.
' Responsibility for the proactive management
of claims, with the support of Claims
Manager. Providing regular supervision to
ensure that claims are managed in line with
the Trust's Standard Operating Procedures on
claims
management, the NHS Resolution scheme rules
are adhered to and court deadlines are met.
