Description

We are looking for a highly motivated, digitally experienced and analytically minded pharmacist to manage and strategically develop the medicines management clinical informatics service.

You will be a key member of the medicines management senior management team and will work closely alongside the digital systems lead.


The post holder will act as the senior operational pharmacy professional for the development and implementation of medicines clinical information services, ensuring the digital medicines optimisation strategy is aligned with the organisation's digital strategy, medicines optimisation and business plans.

The post holder will provide professional and managerial leadership for the development of clinical informatics systems utilised in medicines management, digital and business intelligence services, across the expanded organisation and for associated external services.


The post holder will lead the development of the work programme and manage the Medicines Management Clinical Informatics team to transform clinical service provision, patient experience and drive and support innovation.


You will support the Medicines Management senior team by ensuring the provision of high quality, medicines and pharmacy analytics and reporting to inform the provision of clinical and cost effective and safe use of medicines across the Trust to support accurate planning, forecasting and monitoring of medicine expenditure in addition to assurance regarding appropriate prescribing.

In doing so, supporting the medicines management governance and quality agenda.


The post holder will be expected to work flexibly in line with the hours of operation and requirement to provide an on-call service.

The post holder will act as the senior operational pharmacy professional for the digital transformation of medicines management clinical informatics services ensuring the digital medicines optimisation strategy is aligned with the organisation's Digital and Data strategy and the medicines optimisation and business plans.

The post holder will provide professional and managerial leadership for the development of clinical informatics systems utilised in medicines management, digital and business intelligence services, across the expanded organisation and for associated external services.

Service delivery must support the implementation of the trust and integrated care system medicines optimisation agenda and national
priorities.

  • Provide leadership and expert advice on all aspects of medicines management clinical informatics,
including planning of services, implementation of systems, ensuring optimum use of clinical informatics
systems and maintenance of IT systems.

  • Advise the Medicines Management Strategic Leadership Team in matters relating to informatics
systems implementation, maintenance, options, optimisation and strategic planning aligned with the
Trust's digital and data strategy.

  • Work with the Trust Medicines Management Clinical Information System Lead, the Chief Information
Officer (CIO), Chief Clinical Information Officer (CCIO), Chief Nursing Information Officer (CNIO) and
clinical informatics leads for other professional groups on pharmacy digital enabling issues and risks
across the expanded organisation, ensuring the optimisation of clinical informatics systems across
primary care and mental health services. This will include Electronic Prescribing and Medicines
Administration (EPMA) systems, primary care prescribing systems, business intelligence and reporting
systems and pharmacy specific systems such the pharmacy procurement and stock control system,
robotics and other peripheral systems.
