Job Summary


As the primary beneficiaries of this service will be children with special needs and their parents/carers, activities will need to be delivered at weekends - sessions are delivered fortnightly at Towcester Leisure Centre, Northamptonshire.


Job Dimensions

  • Plan and deliver sport and leisure activities for unpaid carers and their families, including children with special needs.
  • Develop both new and existing activities to provide a safe, valued and sustainable service.
  • Recruit, coordinate and support volunteers and coaches etc to deliver this service.
  • To support funding bids to develop a sustainable service.
  • Where appropriate provide advice, information and proportional carers assessments or ensure arrangements are in place at activities to do so.
  • Complete risk assessments and liaise with venues to ensure safe activities.
  • To undertake carer awarenessraising tasks as required.
  • To maintain accurate written and computer records in accordance with local policies and data protection and confidentiality legislation.
  • To work as part of a team, participating in team meetings, team building, training and activities.
  • To prepare for and participate in regular supervision meetings and to seek additional supervision as required.
  • To demonstrate awareness/understanding of equal opportunities and other people's behavioural, physical, social and welfare needs.
  • To ensure that reasonable care is taken at all times for the health, safety and welfare of yourself and other persons, and to comply with the policies and procedures relating to health and safety and safeguarding within the organisation.
  • To carry out any other duties which fall within the broad spirit, scope and purpose of this job description and which are commensurate with the grade of the post.
