Support Specialist Assistant
SBU/Department: Library and Computing Services
FTE: 1 FTE (working 37 hours per week)
Duration of Contract: Permanent
Salary: UH5 £26,642 pa with potential to progress to £29,762 pa on achieving designated skills and experience
Annual Leave: 25 days plus standard public holidays and an additional 4 days including the closure of our office between Christmas and New Year
Location: College Lane Campus, University of Hertfordshire, Hatfield- This role will join the Support team which is comprised of multi-skilled IT specialists who are responsible for providing frontline support for the University's staff, students and visitors.

This support is for the wide range of library, academic, IT and AV services that the department offers.
Main duties and responsibilities

  • You will undertake a range of IT and user support relating to University systems, services, facilities and departments and will support customers with their requirements in connection with learning, teaching, research and business engagement.
    Skills and experience required
  • You will have proven experience of working on front line support within a customer service organisation, as well as proven skills and experience in setting up and operating a range of user computing and digital media equipment and software. Proven skills and experience in fault diagnosis and resolution across a range of computing and digital media provision are also an essential requirement of this role as well as proven experience of hardware and software installation / maintenance for a range of IT/AV equipment. A good working knowledge of relevant recognised standards is crucial.
  • Selfmotivation, initiative with a "Can-Do" approach to resolving problems as well as a high standard of communications skills (oral and written) are essential skills for this role. You will have excellent interpersonal, advocacy and problemsolving skills, strong organisational skills, the ability to prioritise work and to meet deadlines and be a good team player.
    Qualifications required
  • You will hold a HND/C, Dip HE, Foundation Degree, N/SVQ4 or equivalent expertise and experience.
