Public Relations Officer

Full time, hybrid home/office/field.

Occasional travel and work outside of office hours.

Salary £24k-£26k depending on experience


As the PR Officer you will play an active role in the planning and delivery of Community Pharmacy Scotland's (CPS) PR strategy.

The Public Relations Officer leads the delivery of projects, shapes CPS's PR activity and manages key relationships.


About the role


Working as a part of the wider CPS team you will support and deliver on areas of work which are led by the Policy and Development team.

The focus for this role is on developing and implementing plans to raise the profile of both the organisation and thecommunity pharmacy network, which will require you to influence a range of different stakeholders using a mixed methods approach.


Other duties include to:


  • Work with other members of the team to develop and deliver a communications strategy and specific plans aligned with organisational priorities, including appropriate stakeholder mapping and tracking.
  • Lead on raising the profile of the community pharmacy network and its functions amongst the public and key interest groups, ensuring that its reputation is protected and enhanced.
  • Deliver internal public affairs support within the organisation including drafting materials for the website, briefing materials for PR work/campaigns, and delivering lobbying activities. This will involve extensive engagement with stakeholders and activerelationship management as well as the sharing of expertise with other members of the team.
  • Support our members with proactive lobbying strategies and support for local engagement opportunities.
  • Work with policy colleagues to keep the organisation informed of political and policy developments relevant to CPS.
  • Aid in identifying and responding to external consultations relevant to CPS and our members.
  • Liaise and build relations with established media organisations, supporting both proactive and reactive engagement.

About You


To meet the challenges of this role you will need to have excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills, a highly developed writing ability and understand & deliver briefings / presentations on complex policy topics.

Critical thinking and problem-solvingskills are key requirements as well as the ability to work to deadlines under pressure whilst maintaining attention to detail.

You will be open to travelling within Scotland upon request.

Our offices are based on Queen Street in Edinburgh's city centre which has great transport links and plenty of amenities.

We do work as part of a hybrid home / office working scenario, but you will be asked to travel across Scotland to meet with variousstakeholders on occasion.

We do this by negotiating with the Scottish Government onbehalf of our members on all terms of service under the NHS.
