ROLE SUMMARY

  • Lead the Trust's annual business planning process, ensuring that budgets set are reflective of agreed commissioner contracts and account for key issues such as cost pressures, developments and efficiency plans.
  • To be responsible and lead on the overall strategic financial modelling and costing for the Trust
  • Ensure that all internal and external costing requirements are met, providing robust financial information through engagement with operational and clinical teams.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To be responsible for and lead the business planning process, including the development of highly complex timetables and models to produce agreed budgets with budget holders.

To be responsible for and lead on the Trust's long term financial planning process, including keeping the Long Term Financial Model (LTFM) up to date.

To be responsible for and lead on the costing of services, for internal and external use, including, National Cost Collection, benchmarking returns, Patient Level Information and Costing System (PLICS), Service Line Reporting, Freedom of Information requests.

Support clinical and non-clinical areas in the preparation of bids and business cases, paying particular attention to the financial and economic appraisal of such cases and the linking of these cases to the overall financial strategy of the Trust.

Communicate highly detailed and complex financial information in a clear and concise way. Attend relevant meetings with Directors, operational managers and commissioners as required.


Lead and manage the team, ensuring the provision of high quality, accurate and timely financial advice, business intelligence and information.


Identify potential commercial opportunities and risks and plan and take the lead on developing strategies and mitigations appropriately in advising the Director of Finance - Commercial.
