Product Design Engineer required for a Medical company based in Rochester.

The company are soon to start a new project and are in need of someone to help out with the design of medical equipment.


Product Design EngineerPosition Overview

  • Someone who can be responsible for all aspects of the mechanical design for the product range. This means discussing construction techniques with our other engineers, designing the components, housing and supports using industry standard 3D CAD tools (Fusion360),liaising with manufacturers around the world and also our own manufacturing team to create product in the volumes and price point that we require. At the prototyping and development stage you will certainly have to assemble incoming bits yourself to checkwhether the design works and modify them if necessary.
  • To make competitive products we need to use all the modern manufacturing techniques that are available. Knowing which contractors can supply what parts with what quality and in what timescale is an important part of the job. Our production volumes meanthat you will need a good understanding of piece part costs in the real world when creating a design.
  • We expect to be using construction techniques that are unfamiliar to the company. One of your responsibilities will be to learn how to use these effectively, possibly by visiting the manufacturers or trade shows, and then training the company in their use.
  • Obviously, the many forms of 3D printing now available are increasingly used in final manufacture as well as prototyping so we also want to use these to best advantage.
  • Need you to maintain the CAD models and produce 2D manufacturing drawings as appropriate. And, as we are a small company, you may be asked to help with myriad other design projects along the way.

Product Design EngineerPosition Requirements

  • Experienced with Fusion 360 or SolidWorks
  • 35 years minimum experience as a design engineer

Product Design EngineerPosition Remuneration

  • Salary dependent on experience (Likely £30,000£45,000)
