Programme Associate - Industrial Transformations (Internship / Entry-level)

Who we are looking for:

The position is based either in the UK or the Netherlands (co-working space in Utrecht). A legal right to work in at least one of these countries is required.


Ideally, you:


  • Are a graduate in a relevant degree (climate, environment, sustainability, international policy, material decarbonisation, etc.) with some relevant work experience.
  • Have a good understanding of project management approaches and experience of working in a project environment.
  • Have excellent verbal and written communication skills and are fluent in English.
  • Can engage and communicate effectively with external stakeholders.
  • Possess outstanding organisation and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks.
  • Are a selfstarter who can oversee projects from start to finish.
  • Have a good grasp of the current climate policy context.
  • Are interested in how bridging the researchpolicy interface can drive climate action.
  • Have advanced IT skills including Microsoft, internetbased tools, and social media.
  • Are fluent in a second language (desirable, although not essential to the role)

What you will be doing

  • Coordinating impactful projects
  • Contributing to fundraising proposals and scoping new areas of work
  • Organising events in Europe and around the world
  • Coordinating international networks of climate researchers and policy makers
  • Working on projects at the cuttingedge of climate policy research

Industrial transformations:


Successful applicant(s) will primarily work on the following projects:

  • Support the coordination of dissemination and engagement work for our Horizon 2020-funded project "_Advanced Carbon Capture for steel industries integrated in CCUS Clusters (C4U)_", aiming to integrate CO2 capture in the iron and steel industry, with detailed consideration of safety, environmental, societal, policy and business aspects.
  • Support the coordination of the "_Climate Friendly Materials Platform (CFMP)_", which explores options for an effective policy framework to advance innovation and the use of low‐carbon technology to deliver material sector decarbonisation and climate neutrality in Europe by 2050.

Salary and start date


The annual salary is FTE London Living Wage for the UK-based post and the age-dependent minimum wage for the Netherlands-based post.
