Applications are invited for the post of Locum Consultant Cardiologist at Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge.

The position has become available to support the outpatient clinic waiting list and to help develop Inpatient Heart Failure services.

The position is available to start as soon as possible and is available until 30 November 2023.


The department delivers a General Cardiology service within a large teaching hospital, supported by specialist services at Royal Papworth Hospital, the tertiary cardiac centre, co-located on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus.

We are seeking a colleague to contribute to General Cardiology services, including outpatient (General Cardiology / Rapid Access Chest Pain & Heart Failure) and inpatient care, in particular provision of hospital-wide review of patients with heart failure.

The post includes out-of-hours on-call for Cardiology (8 weeks / year). There may be scope to accommodate a subspecialty interest, depending on the individual and the department's needs.


Applicants must be registered with the GMC with a licence to practice and have, or be within 6 months of achieving a CCT in Cardiology (or equivalent).

Applications are welcomed from those unable to work full time for personal reasons or those wishing to job-share.


The applicant must have demonstrable skills in listening, reading, writing and speaking in English that enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues, as set out in the GMC's Good Medical Practice Non-UK applicants must possess the IELTS/OET exam before obtaining a GMC licence to practice.
