Location - Hyde, Manchester

Salary - £Competitive + Weighting Allowance

Overview:


First Military recruitment is working in partnership with our client to recruit a Machinist to join their Engineering Services Division team at their Service Centre in Hyde.

The Machinist will support the service in-house capabilities for both pump and valve refurbishments.

The role will require parts to be machined from both draw and sample in additional to reclaiming of parts, operating various manual machines including latheand vertical boring machine.

This is a workshop based role with some site work required.


Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Bias on turning majority of machining on manual centre lathe producing shafts, sleeves, spacers, etc.
  • Machining cast parts to drawing such as impellers, bearing housings, casings.
  • General milling including keyways and slots.
  • Vertical borer machining valve bodies, pump bowls, pump casings etc.
  • Remove and replace case wear rings and bushes.
  • Present a professional Image, support and promote brand values at all times.
  • Carry out all work practices in line with Company Health and Safety Policy.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate policies and procedures.
  • Meet high standard of cleanliness and housekeeping.
  • Support site activities.
  • Liaise with workshop personnel at all levels.

Skills and Experience:


  • Time served Craft Apprenticeship/trained machine shop engineer using conventional lathes, drills, mills, etc.
  • Confident using measuring equipment and reading engineering drawings.
  • Relevant qualification to NVQ Level
  • People Skills, teamwork, and collaboration
  • Service knowledge & understanding of rotating equipment.
  • Problem solving skills.
  • An organized & methodical approach.
  • Good written & verbal communication required.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Selfmotivated and confident.
  • The ability to work alone and under one's own initiative.
  • Practical and highly adaptable.
  • Excellent organisation skills.
  • Discrete and honest.
  • The ability to prioritize and cope with lastminute changes.
  • Stamina, persistence, enthusiasm, and a proactive manner.
  • Flexibility and adaptability, with a commonsense attitude to problem solving.
  • Valid driving licence.

In return our client offers:


  • A competitive salary, depending on experience (plus weighting allowance).
  • 37.5 hours per week + overtime as required: core hours 07.30 to 16.00 Monday to Thursday, 08.30 to 13.00 Friday.
  • Overtime: Saturdays paid at 1.5; Sundays and Bank Holidays at double time.
