This is an exciting post that is designed for a FY3/CT1-2/ST1-2 level trainee to develop and expand skills and practice in Medical Education.


There is the option to work part time in Medical Education and part time in a chosen specialty or full time in Medical Education.

Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is is situated on the west coast of Lancashire and operates within a regional health economy catchment area that spans Lancashire and South Cumbria, supporting a population of 1.6 million.

The Trust is a provider of specialist tertiary care for Cardiac and Haematology services across this region. The Trust does not operate outside of the United Kingdom.


The job will allow the successful post holder to undertake focused training in Medical Education During this time the following requirements should be met.


  • The prime focus is on supporting medical students on placement from The University of Liverpool and Lancaster University to meet their clinical curriculum standards.
  • In addition, there will be a focus on simulation support for the multiprofessional teaching programme which includes Locally Employed Doctors, Advanced Clinical Practitioners and Physician Associates.
  • The postholder will be expected to learn about synthesis of existing evidence, development of new programmes including assessment of impact of that programme and its sustainability.
  • Research and develop at least one educational initiative.
