An exciting opportunity has arisen within our renal dietetic team at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust.

We are looking for a forward thinking dietitian to join our team of 9 renal dietitians, based at City Campus.

You will become an integral member of our multidisciplinary team delivering high quality patient-centred renal dietetic across Nottinghamshire. We are an exceptional, dynamic and supportive team with a strong MDT ethos and focus on patient outcomes. Full training will be provided as part of this role. Experience in renal is desirable but it is not essential. We provide excellent training to dietitian new to renal and to existing experienced renal dietitians.

You will be given the opportunity to attend the national Renal Nutrition course, behavioral change training in addition to internal tutorials and CPD sessions.

We also have close links with the Dietetic MSc programme at the University of Nottingham.

Main duties of the job


You will provide advice and support the nutritional needs of this complex group of patients in the inpatient, outpatient and dialysis settings (both in Nottingham and at one of our satellite unit).

As part of this role you will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE).

You will have the opportunity to develop your skills as a renal dietitian in all form of renal replacement therapies.

You will work closely with the wider multidisciplinary team and support projects to enhance the expected high quality care provided.

You will need to be dedicated and show ambition to continually evaluate working practices to ensure a safe and quality service.

Your work and development will be supported by the more experienced dietitians who will assist you to engage in audit, research and contribute to service development.

As the role will include traveling to our satellite units, it would be desirable to have a full UK driving license and access to a car.

The dietetic and nutrition service at Nottingham University Hospitals is a large and friendly department of around 140 staff including assistants and technicians providing dietetic and nutrition support across all areas of the Trust and beyond.

We have close links with the University of Nottingham and take student dietitians for A, B and C placements.

You should have experience of working as a dietitian, have excellent communication skills, self-motivation, have a flexible approach and the ability to manage your own time and buys workload within a supportive team.

Nutritional support skills are essential.

It would be desirable to have renal and/or diabetes experience, although you will receive full training as part of this role.

Your will be working as a renal dietitian in our wards as well as outpatients clinics and dialysis units. You will work closely with the renal MDT as well as other specialties.

You will deliver nutritional counselling and utilise behavioural change techniques to enable patients to manage their condition and improve their quality of life.
