Who You Are

You are an individual who is qualified and competent as an authorized food standards and feed standards officer. You have a recognised Chartered Trading Standards Institute qualification like a Diploma in Trading Standards or a Diploma in Consumer Affairs and Trading Standards (DCATS) with 60 points (to include food, feed and metrology). Plus, you have experience in working in a large urban authority or private sector organisation. You have a university degree and professional CTSI Trading Standards qualification. Your knowledge and skills include excellent communication, time management, computer literacy and the ability to investigate and undertake complex projects. You also have experience in investigating consumer complaints, providing business advice to members of the public and commercial undertakings, and training, mentoring and the development of less experienced colleagues.

What The Job Involves

This job role involves carrying out criminal compliance enforcement activities across the regulatory service functions. As part of a generic team, you will carry out inspections, surveys and investigations into complex and serious breaches of trading standards legislation. You will identify legal contraventions and select, recommend and execute appropriate enforcement activity based on assessed risk. You will have sole responsibility for undertaking this work and your duties will include presenting solutions to bring resolution to complex issues. Additionally, you'll be expected to supervise, train, mentor and monitor the work of less experienced colleagues, preparing reports, enforcing relevant legislation, participating significantly in project teams, and more.
