JA1157 Shipping Clerk - Import/Export

Location - Birmingham B68

Salary - £25 - £30K DOE

Type - Permanent - Full-time
We are currently recruiting for a Shipping Clerk with Import/Export experience to join our client's growing business in Birmingham.

Key Responsibilities:

Quoting for shipping and customs costs.
Setting up new customers.
Completing paperwork for export.
Arranging clearance of incoming and outgoing international orders.
Liaising with other departments.
Port health checks.
Invoice shipment.
Export bookings with international/national agents; sea freight carriers.
Investigating, quoting & planning the most appropriate route for a shipment considering the nature of goods, cost, transit time and security.
Obtaining & checking documentation to meet customs, packing specifications, and compliance with other countries' regulations. Obtaining information to compete customs declarations in the UK.
Utilise internet technology to support customer tracking of goods whilst maintaining communication and control through all phases of the journey.

Skills & Experience:

Import and export experience including "postBrexit".
Previous experience and working knowledge of Export operations and main transport methods
Knowledge of shipping processes and documentation for both imports and exports.
A full understanding of Import and Export legislation.
Proven problem solver, with a keen eye for detail.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
