Job Purpose:
To support early years settings to participate in the Healthy Early Years London programme and achieve awards.
Responsibilities:
- Support early years settings (including Children's Centres, nurseries, under 5s in schools and childminders) to achieve Healthy Early Years London awards at Bronze, Silver and Gold levels.
- Support early years practitioners in reviewing provision, identifying good practice and areas for development.
- Promote and provide evidencebased recommendations to early years practitioners on key public health priorities, e.g., nutrition, physical activity, oral health, emotional wellbeing, mental health, and immunisations.
- Proactively contact and communicate with early years practitioners to offer support.
- Monitor and report on setting engagement and provide feedback to borough lead and commissioners.
- Travel and work across the boroughs of Barnet, Kensington and Chelsea, and Westminster. Able to work from home.
Knowledge, Skills, Experience:
- Knowledge and understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage
- Knowledge and understanding of issues relating to young children's public health, including nutrition, physical activity, mental health, obesity and immunisations
- Understanding of different infrastructures within the education sector and Local Authority
- Experience in planning, delivering and evaluating health education and promotion activities for families and children under
- An understanding and commitment to the protection and safeguarding of children and young people
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to write clear and concise reports and communicate effectively with a wide range of people, including professionals, parents/carers
- Excellent ICT skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Dropbox)
- Ability to use initiative, organise and prioritise work, meet deadlines, and work both independently and as part of a team
- Ability to establish data monitoring and evaluation processes and report on the effectiveness and impact of interventions within settings
Contract:
Either an employed or freelance position considered
Employed position
- Contract: Maternity Cover (Fixed Term for up to 12 months)
- Hours: Parttime (2 or 3 days a week)
- Salary: up to £40,000 per annum pro rata (paid monthly)

Mainly from home, but some travel within the boroughs where HEP are commissioned to coordinate Healthy Early Years programmes is required (Currently in Barnet, Kensington and Chelsea, and Westminster)
