Our client is currently looking for a Graduate / Junior Systems & Software Engineer to join their busy team in Bristol, BS2.


The aim of the role is to design and build integrated hardware and software solutions and user interfaces to meet the functional requirements of their training products.


A pragmatic graduate or junior engineer with an open mind, aptitude for problem-solving and as comfortable with design and documentation as in the workshop prototyping and testing.

The role requires broad engineering skills for the design and integrationof hardware and software, both embedded and PC based.

Familiarity with a variety of operating systems and platforms, a strong analytical mindset and a keen eye for detail are important.


This role offers an opportunity for a graduate or junior engineer to work in an interdisciplinary environment with a broad range of responsibilities and gain exposure to many areas of product design within an electronics and software context.


Salary:
£25,000-£28,000 per annum

Full Time, Permanent


Graduate / Junior Systems & Software Engineer Duties:

  • Assist in feasibility studies to provide innovative solutions for product development.
  • Design creative prototypes according to specifications or for research purposes.
  • Perform unit and integration testing (including snagging) in accordance with project schedules.
  • Conduct functional and nonfunctional testing, and document accordingly.
  • Assist with ordering of prototypes and parts from external suppliers as part of systems design and development.

Graduate/Junior Systems & Software Engineer Requirements:

  • Good working knowledge of C and Python (Ideally with GUI understanding) programming languages.


  • Fundamental electronics knowledge

  • Fundamental ability to interpret circuit schematics.
  • Use of standard electronics tools
  • Oscilloscope, DMM etc.
  • Hands on practical approach.


  • Microcontrollers

  • PIC32, ESP32 or Similar.
  • Knowledge of communications protocols
  • UART, I2C, SPI.
  • Carry out product/ device tests and delivery of test reports.
  • Excellent communications skills; able to communicate with a mixed discipline team both within and external to the company.
  • A keen interest in developing technical skills and knowledge.

Desirable:


  • Audio electronics/ Signal processing knowledge.


  • Power electronics knowledge

  • SMPS, battery powered devices, motor control.
  • Understanding of Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, TCP/IP.


  • Front end development

  • HTML/ Java Script.
