Bookkeeper / Administrator - Firm of Accountants


Our client is seeking an experienced Accountancy Practice Bookkeeper / Administrator to joint their team based in their Bromsgrove Office.


This successful firm of accountants has developed a strong reputation for delivering quality services, along with building strong relationships with its wide-ranging client bases, across varying industries and size of client.

The firm offers a very supportive and team focused environment, reflected by a low staff turnover and long serving staff.


Joining this firm of accountants as a Bookkeeper / Administrator based from their Bromsgrove office, you will carve a key, hands on role, as you develop within this firm and environment.

Acting for varied sole trader, partnership and limited company SME's and OMB's of varying size and industry sector, you will deliver bookkeeping, management accounts, VAT, Administration and other services to mixed clients.

As an Accountancy Bookkeeper/ Administrator, you will be responsible for:

  • Processing day to day bookkeeping for a portfolio of clients including limited companies, Sole traders and Partnerships as well as reconciliations of the main control accounts
  • Preparing monthly management accounts
  • Dealing with client queries
  • Preparing and filing VAT returns
  • Attending client premises to undertake bookkeeping role onsite which includes preparation of management information for clients
  • Providing training to clients on various packages and bookkeeping skills as required
  • Training and supporting apprentices with general bookkeeping skills
  • General office admin answering phones, reception duties, opening, booking in and disseminating post, checking and ordering supplies, management of IT hardware
  • Overseeing H&S compliance/safety inspections, office first aider
  • Client file management, archiving physical records ensuring compliance with GDPR legislation, digitising records of current clients, management of physical and digital files and storage facilities
  • Secretarial duties including maintenance of statutory books and filing of confirmation statements for multiple clients, monitoring when these are due and liaising with clients to ensure timely and accurate submission
  • Management of time recording system, ensuring timesheets for all staff are entered and posted in a timely manner to ensure month end billing goes smoothly.
  • Running reports via the time management system and preparing and analysing data to be presented in a usable format through the use of Excel features (such as pivot tables) to highlight areas of potential concern. Production of time cost summaries and staff utilisation reports to analyse time spent on various client/job types against budget, preparing reports to analyse performance at client/staff member/practise level
Ad hoc duties as requested


Requirements:


  • You may be AAT studying, qualified, or qualified by experience.
  • You will have anything from 5 years + experience within bookkeeping within a clientfacing capacity, either in practice, a bureau or selfemployed.
  • Experience of software such as Xero, Quickbooks, Sage, Kashflow etc. would be advantageous.

£29,000.00-£34,000.00 per year
