This Engineering Operative L2 Diploma, associated with the tool maker apprenticeship gives you the opportunity to learn from experienced Engineers alongside studying for your L2 Diploma supported by Preston College.


As part of your Apprenticeship, you will:

  • Be given the opportunity to attain a Engineering Operative L2 Diploma with potential to gain Level 3 Diploma while working closely with experienced Engineers that are based within the Operations team.
  • Working with our Engineering Team, with focus on the repair and service of the power press tooling associated with the supply of components throughout the Preston manufacturing operation.
  • Gain knowledge of the associated engineering processes through exposure to various machining & manufacturing techniques aligned to departmental safety systems and safe systems of work.
  • Be offered the opportunity to work with likeminded, hardworking, and passionate people to drive plant asset efficiencies to ensure products are manufactured to the correct standard, cost & timescale.

Training

The successful Apprentice will complete a Level 2 apprenticeship over 3 to 4 years dependant on experience and be expected to attend college on a 1 day per week release followed by workplace assessment through years 3&4.

Successful completion of all work modules to agreed timescales is required for the qualification:


  • On completion of your apprenticeship a graded endpoint assessment will be based on a:
  • Creation of a portfolio
  • Occupational Competence Validation Interview
  • Application for professional recognition (EngTech)
  • On successful completion of the apprenticeship programme, become part of a Career Development Pathway.

Responsibilities

  • To always act as an ambassador for Baxi Heating UK
  • To comply with the Health and Safety Policy and procedures and draw to their manager's attention any unsafe working practice/conditions
  • To comply with the Information Security Policy.
  • To comply with the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion policy at all times

Skills, Knowledge & Education Required:


  • A positive cando attitude
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to listen and follow instructions from your peers
  • Good practical skills
  • A flexible and adaptable approach to work
  • Must have a minimum of four GCSE at Grade 4(C) above including Maths, English, Science & Technology is desirable
Salary based upon a structured percentage plan against Grade 1 skilled rate yr1 50% yr. 2 60%, yr. 3 75%r yr. 4 90 working on a 37-hour week. 25 days holiday per annum not including UK bank holidays. We also offer a contributory pension and sick pay schemes, staff discounts and more.
