Description

Our client is a leading global retailer specialising in the beauty sector. They have a rare opportunity for a Creative Design Lead to join their design team. Offices are in Berkshire and they are currently working 2 days in the office, 3 days remote.
**Role Purpose
**This role has two core remits. One is centered around design and the delivery of creative and artworking services across Europe. The role will continually raise the bar on creativity, taking a brief and delivering inspiring and exciting solutions toattract our target audiences. This involves communicating across multiple channels, including print and digital (website and social media). They will act as brand custodians; ensuring that all communications are created and produced in-line with brand guidelines.

The second element of the role is allocation and project management of activity and mentoring within the design studio.

Working closely with the Creative Services Manager they will ensure briefs are allocated and managed via the most efficient process.

Theywill also support in the briefing process, influencing brand and campaign designs to help drive engagement, sales and profit.

They will be a mentor to the designers, artworkers and videographers and create an environment of collaboration within and acrossteams.


Day to day duties

  • Delivery of creative and artworking services
  • Work with allocated briefs and translate to design concepts
  • Communicate & present design drafts. Setting the overall tone and style of creative campaigns
  • Creation of designs and assets to support campaign and promotional activity, working with internal and external partners
  • Production of visually appealing and onbrand content packages
  • Offer guidance and support on overall creative direction
  • Lead the development of a set of channel templates that create consistency across all communications
  • Provide photography and art direction services to use in marketing and education materials, social media, o
  • Editing & retouching of imagery
  • Creating & editing video/animation
  • Take an active part in briefing processes alongside the Creative Services Manager
  • Lead the allocation of briefs across the team ensuring skills and engagement is maximised
  • Oversee workflow and track team projects from brief to delivery to ensure projects are delivered on time
  • Conduct quality control of selected projects providing constructive feedback and preproof support
  • Ensure project management software is utilised to its fullest potential
  • Support Creative Services Manager with process improvement across the team, ensuring ideas and opportunities are exploited and put into practice.
  • In conjunction with the Creative Services Manager, support in maintaining and developing all brand guidelines
  • Ensure that all communications reflect the brand positively and accurately.
  • Provide ongoing mentoring, coaching and support across the team
  • Lead team collaboration to generate new ideas, and review learnings.
  • Deputising for Creative Services Manager when necessary
  • Review effectiveness of creatives produced by team to support in identifying ways to improve

Experience/skills required

  • Substantial experience in printed & digital design (both B2C and B2B)
  • Experience of design in a commercial environment (beauty/lifestyle/fashion sectors a plus)
  • Demonstrable interest in and understanding of design trends, best practices and usability principles
  • Experience of translating creative briefs to design concepts
  • Tenacious attention to detail and highly organised
  • Able to create new processes and adapt within a growing department
  • Ability to manage time effectively, working to and delivering against deadlines on multiple briefs
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Results orientated, with a genuine interest in customer engagement of designs
  • Selfmotivated with a creative and independent mindset, while still working within a team environment and fostering team collaboration
  • Excellent understanding of our brands and their personalities and values
  • Confidently can work across functions with multiple people at various levels
  • Ability to coach and teach skills to others
  • Interest in the industry strongly desirable
  • Mac literate with excellent knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat, After Effects and Premiere
  • Thorough knowledge of the Microsoft Office products, including PowerPoint and Word

Desirable:

  • Interest and competence in photography
  • Experience of managing creative teams
  • HTML and responsive web design desirable
  • Able to film and edit footage
