Job Role:


Working asa Gym Instructor you will assess thephysical and health conditions of clients, create appropriate exercise plans,and monitor their improvement.

You will alsoexplain applicable safety rules and regulations (e.g. use of equipment). Ultimately,you will help our clients have fun and improve their health through exercise.

The postholder must be able to respect the Christian Ethos of the YMCA and uphold itsvalues. A DBS clearance will also be required.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • To assist in the smooth daytoday running of the gym and fitness facilities
  • To induct new members into the gym
  • Supervise general use and ensure correct use of the equipment at all times.
  • To help members identify personal goals and develop personalised fitness programmes tailored to support and motivate them
  • To lead group stretch and strength sessions and minicircuits
  • Record and monitor daily safety checks of the gym equipment
  • Ensurepotential hazards are dealt with and reported to the gym manager
  • Keepingthe gym areas clean and tidy making sure all loose equipment stored safelyafter use
  • Promoteactivities including working with the gym manager to increase our social mediaprofile and helping with outreach events
  • Attending regular teammeetings
  • Toact at all times inaccordance with YMCA BCG policies and procedures
  • Assisting with the building evacuation in case of emergency
  • Ensureproductivity is maximised through meticulous time keeping.
  • Undertake evening and weekend working as required.
  • Undertakeother general duties as appropriate to the post.
