About Us:

Essential Needs is a registered charity. Established in 1995 it is Harrogate's original community furniture store.

We provide pre-owned furniture, electrical appliances and other essential household items at affordable prices to the general public but particularly those in need, whilst promoting reuse within the community
.

Purpose of post:

This role will involve working both on our van and in-store (a typical split would usually be 2 days van / 1 day store each week).

The van responsibilities will include driving a Luton style van and facilitating the collection, delivery and handling of all types and sizes of furniture and other items in a safe and satisfactory manner throughout the Harrogate area.

You will also help manage the movement and layout of goods within the warehouse.

In store you will assist customers with purchases and the general day to day sales operations of the charity's furniture and household items.

This can often involve helping to lift various furniture items into customer vehicles.

You will be a friendly and committed person who is confident in responding to enquiries from customers both face to face, and over the telephone.

You will have good communication skills and an ability to deal with people in a sensitive yet professional manner.

The role involves responsibility for supervising volunteers whilst operating the van and in store.

You will be able to use IT systems in your role and be confident processing cash and card payments.

Due to the nature of this role, you will be required to be fit and healthy and competent/capable of lifting a variety of furniture items.

There is Saturday morning work required.

Salary:
£12.00 per hour


Hours / Days:22 hours per week + 4.5 hours one Saturday per month (Wednesday , Thursday , Friday one Saturday morning per month (8.30am-13.00)

The role could develop into more hours over time by agreement and there will be opportunity to work additional hours to cover holidays and busy periods.
