Detective Constable - Degree Holder Entry Programme

Wednesday 1st November to Wednesday 15thNovember 2023,

Being a detective for one of the country's top-performing police forces, you will need to be compassionate, resilient and above all dedicated to making County Durham and Darlington a safer place.

But being a detective isn't for everyone - it's one of the most challenging careers you can choose, being physically, mentally and emotionally demanding.


As a detective you will manage complex and serious investigations and work as an investigative expert on a number of different investigations including theft, fraud, cybercrime, domestic abuse and sexual assault.

As well as playing a critical role in supporting the most vulnerable victims of crime.


It's a demanding and fast paced environment, but one that is incredibly rewarding for those looking to make a real difference.

From providing community reassurance to making arrests, our officers are supporting the community 24 hours a day 365 days a year.

You must be prepared to work shift patterns, including nightshifts, work long hours, as well as working Bank Holiday, including Christmas and New Year.


We are looking for dedicated and enthusiastic people with a passion for serving the community and keeping the public safe.

Our officers provide a vital frontline service for our community and visitors to County Durham and Darlington.

Degree Holder Entry Programme


Degree Holders, Level 6 with the following classifications Honours Level Degree (either First Class honours, Upper Second-Class Honours, Lower Second-Class Honours and Third-Class Honours).

Your degree must also have a written element.

What Happens next?


Should you pass the initial sift and have a valid Online Assessment Score you will be invited to final interview which will be held at Police Headquarters during November/December 202- hard copies will
not beaccepted.

£28,551.00-£46,044.00 per year
