    We are seeking a talented professional to support our Tax Team during a period of growth within Legal & General. This is a fixed term contract opportunity that will provide valuable experience in transaction activity and tax advisory services.

    About the Role

    This role will involve working closely with the Head of Private Markets Tax, Head of Asset Management Tax, and other team members to ensure the successful completion of transactions. The role holder will be responsible for leading or supporting tax workstreams across a portfolio of transactions, providing expert advice on tax matters, and ensuring compliance with Group Tax Policy.

    The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of UK Taxes Acts, including corporation tax, income tax, VAT, and stamp duty. They will also possess excellent communication skills, able to convey complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders.

    Responsibilities

    • Supporting the Head of Private Markets Tax and Head of Asset Management Tax on transaction activity, including consideration of tax issues related to SDLT, LBTT, LTT, VAT, tax residence, and PE.
    • Working with external advisors to structure property or property SPV acquisitions, advising on direct tax issues, financing, transfer pricing, and withholding tax.
    • Supporting tax workstreams relating to corporate M&A or other corporate structuring matters, including reviewing external advisors' tax due diligence reports and managing risks within Sale and Purchase agreements' warranties/indemnities drafting and purchase price negotiations.
    • Translating L&G's tax risk appetite for external advisors and internal stakeholders, ensuring decisions taken are appropriate and within the tax policy.

    Requirements

    • Qualified Accountant or equivalent experience.
    • Member or fellow of the Chartered Institute of Taxation or equivalent experience.
    • Strong knowledge of UK Taxes Acts, including corporation tax, income tax, VAT, and stamp duty.
    • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
