EBME Manager - Orpington - £47k-£53k per annum & £2,500 London Weighting


Reporting to UK Sites Manager the purpose of the role will be to manage the delivery of Clinical Engineering support for a wide of range of medical devices.

To advise on technical and clinical matters relating to the management of these
medical devices and medical equipment. Lead responsibility for the continuous improvement and implementation of policy and process development, clinical governance, and quality systems. Direct line management responsibility for Team Lead, Engineers, LibraryTechnicians and onsite administrator.
We expect you to have first class knowledge of medical equipment and considerable experience in applying
technology to patient-critical equipment, including the specification, evaluation, commissioning, maintenance,
and investigation of incidents. You should have experience of developing services and in setting up and
maintaining a quality system for medical equipment management. You will have excellent interpersonal and
communication skills, commercial awareness, and a demonstrable ability to manage and motivate staff.

You should have a post graduate degree or equivalent knowledge and experience and will ideally be registered
on the VRCT.

Skills/Experience;

  • Extensive technical knowledge of medical devices as well as an understanding of how and why the devices can support healthcare delivery.
  • Extensive knowledge of medical device standards safety regulations pertaining to their management and use.
  • Specialist knowledge of the physical principles of the technology used in medical equipment.
  • Broad knowledge of current advances in technology and medicine and their likely impact on health care.
  • Extensive knowledge of problem solving of medical device issues.
  • Extensive experience and knowledge of all aspects of equipment management, including specification, procurement, commissioning, maintenance, calibration, and safety testing.
  • Extensive experience in the investigation of adverse incidents related to medical equipment.
  • Experience in the use of electrical and medical device test equipment.
  • Able to encourage/mentor and manage staff from junior administration to Senior Engineers and further develop a team approach within the company.
  • Able to deliver against performance indicators within a quality management system.

Qualifications:


  • HND Electronics or equivalent
  • Membership of VRCT or IPEM
  • Clinical Equipment Management
  • Excellent Influencing and negotiation skills
  • Detailed uptodate knowledge of managing a wide range of medical equipment, including technical understanding
  • Understanding of clinical workflows
  • Worked with senior NHS clinical staff
  • Specification of medical equipment
  • Extensive knowledge of MHRA DB and associated documents
  • Exceptional levels of personal responsibility
  • Strong aptitude for dealing with ambiguity, maturity, resilience and the ability to stay calm under pressure
  • People management skills: persuasion, negotiation and appropriate authoritative influence
