Description
GATU and EPAU- Band 2

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join an excellent team within the Gynaecology Assessment and Triage Unit (GATU) and the Early Pregnancy Assessment Unit (EPAU) in the Women's Clinical Business Unit at Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

We are looking for qualified, experienced healthcare assistants with excellent people skills, who are highly motivated who have a woman centred approach to care.

As a Healthcare Assistant you will assist the team and work alongside the nurses, nurse practitioners and medical staff. We have strong links with the sonographers, bereavement Midwife and the wider organisation.

NVQ Credit Framework level 2 Qualification in Health and Social Care or equivalent is essential.

The post holder works as part of a CBU at Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Will be expected to work 12 hour shifts and unsocial hours as part of a shift pattern, including nights, evening, weekends and band holidays

Both GATU and EPAU require support from dedicated Health Care Assistants, who can give physical and emotional support to women.

Occasional cross cover into the Women's Health Unit ( WHU) may be required. You will be expected to perform phlebotomy skills for both services as required. You will assist the nursing and medical teams.

You will demonstrate a caring and compassionate nature, we will provide training and exposure on pertinent aspects of the service so you are confident to support women who are booking into our service for the first time.

Women may be distressed or bereaved following the loss of their pregnancy or as a result of undergoing a procedure to end a pregnancy due to a poor outcome following their dating scan.

With this in mind, you need to be aware this may be a challenging environment.

You will also need to be flexible, be able to work between the two sides of the GATU and EPAU environment and be able to adjust to the demands of the service.

You will deliver basic care needs to women which enable the nursing and medical teams to prioritise care.

We operate a 24 hr service therefore you will be required to work a variety of 12 hour shifts that include weekends, night duty and public holidays.
