An exciting opportunity has become available for a full time Occupational Therapy support worker within the CMHT in South Carmarthenshire.

The service delivers OT assessment and intervention to people with severe and enduring mental health problems in Llanelli and surrounding areas.


You would ideally have experience working with clients with serious and enduring mental illness within a therapeutic / rehabilitation role.

You will be working as part of a small Occupational Therapy team to deliver planned Occupational Therapy interventions to support an individual's recovery, utilising technical skills through activity.

You will be working under the supervision and guidance of a qualified Occupational Therapist.

This will include delivering one to one and at times small group interventions which are evidenced based and aim to promote an individual's independence and psychological well-being.


You may be involved in supporting transitional planned Occupational Therapy interventions from the ward to the community and you will be required to work autonomously within both settings.

Effective verbal and written communication skills are essential within the post.

A willingness to undertake the Occupational Therapy Support Worker Diploma Level 3 is essential.

You will be supported within your role and will receive planned supervision and professional development through Personal Development Plans / Reviews.


To work as part of a designated team to deliver an occupational therapy service, as delegated by occupational therapists, to improve the health & wellbeing of people.


Deliver the service in a manner and setting appropriate to the needs of client group, following agreed guidelines, protocols, policies and care pathways.

This may include working with colleagues or alone; with individuals and groups; predominantly in people's homes and the community.

Provide a service to a designated client group, based on instruction & guidance given by the occupational therapist.

This will include undertaking specific assessments and interventions independently as part an overall plan of care delegated by the occupational therapist.

Work collaboratively with colleagues from Health, Local Authorities and Third Sector Organizations to achieve best outcomes.

Support team operations, dealing appropriately with enquiries and undertake administrative tasks relevant to the role.

The provision of a flexible 7-day service may be expected of this role, based on service need.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
