The role

A rapidly growing fintech that is transforming private capital markets is looking for an interim Financial Controller to join them, reporting to the CFO.

What you'll do

  • Lead the accounting and finance function.
  • Supporting the CFO in identifying solutions to build out the critical components of the finance function e.g. FP&A, MI and KPI reporting, strengthening the control environment, research and selection of tech solutions providers, monthly reporting, and automation
  • Preparation of annual reports and accounts as well as monthly management accounts and weekly cash flow forecasts
  • Be a critical part of the financial forecasting and scenario planning process
  • Managing and delivering on the financial element of regulatory reporting commitments, including client money management and CASS procedures
  • Identifying and proactively resolving key accounting issues as and when they arise
  • Contributing to our culture of continuous improvement
  • Collaboration with other team members and stakeholders
What you'll bring

  • Proven experience of building sales engines and scaling up sales teams
  • ACA / ACCA or CIMA, preferably Big 4 qualified
  • At least 7 years postqualified experience in a varied line finance role, from either a financial services start up, capital markets, or banking environment
  • Core technical accounting and commercially focussed budget management skills. IFRS and UK GAAP knowledge. Where no UK GAAP knowledge, ability to do the appropriate research to arrive at correct conclusions
  • Experience in establishing new processes and procedures in very short timeframes and clear track record of simplifying existing processes.
  • Exposure to finance transformation projects (in a larger financial institution) or finance function build out (in a startup) is a plus
  • Autonomous and can take the initiative to respond to changing situations and priorities with a high sense of ownership, urgency, and drive
  • A passion for the detail excellent planning, organisation and timemanagement skills
