Receptionist/Communications Officer


Reporting to:
Student Support Manager


The normal working hours shall be 36 hours a week, plus 3 weeks to be worked in the holidays at the direction of your line manager, and such additional hours as are necessary for the proper performance of the duties required of this role.

The


Hours & Salary salary for this position will be paid on the NJC Scale E point currently £24,054 - £26,357 full time equivalent salary), the pro-rated salary for this position will be £22,280 - £24,413.


To staff the Academy Reception and act as first point of contact for visitors or enquiries maintaining professional behaviour at all times, modelling the Academy values and foster and maintain positive and effective relationships with parents/carers/students and the wider school community.

Child Protection and Safeguarding:
Disclosure and Barring Service. It is the post holder's responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children. You will comply with Child Protection and Safeguarding Policies, and the requirement to report to the Designated
Safeguarding Lead any concerns relating to the safety or welfare of children.

As Receptionist


  • To welcome and sign visitors in and out of the building in line with Academy procedures
  • To check and record DBS clearance in line with Academy procedures
  • To take phone calls and transfer enquiries to the appropriate colleague and/or take messages to pass on
  • To take messages left on the Academy answer phone and pass messages on to the appropriate member of staff
  • To keep the reception are clean and tidy and to ensure the appropriate leaflets and literature are available and up to date
  • To process orders and take deliveries as required
  • To take delivery of all post and parcels
  • To oversee the student signing-in book
  • To produce and display daily student detention list
  • To manage the booking system for the meeting room
As Communications Officer


Main duties and responsibilities:1. Source news from staff and students for the Academy and Trust websites, social media and newsflash, write and edit copies and, in conjunction with IT make regular posts on the website


  • Look at new potential platforms of engagement. Ensure social media policy guidelines are followed and kept up to date with industry standards and government legislation
  • Ensure SIMS has a complete database for student and staff photo permissions that are GDPR compliant
  • Manage effective communication with parents producing newsletters and ensure the mailing list is updated regularly from SIMS
  • In conjunction with IT ensure any recruitment is added to the websites and social media platforms.
As a member of staff, you are expected: a.

To safeguard all pupils, promoting their safety, health, and welfare in accordance with school policy, both on the school premises and on school activities elsewhere; b.

To follow and uphold all school policies and be an excellent ambassador for the Trust and Droylsden
