Description

The Department of Geography has an exciting opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as Project Officer to help deliver a new research project.

The University of Sheffield has been awarded a grant from the Fondation Botnar, a Swiss
philanthropic organisation, to lead an action-research project exploring the possibilities of 'civic
media' technologies to support young people to participate in urban governance, act as 'urban
citizens', and shape equitable urban planning at the neighbourhood scale. The project "Co
-
Constructing 'Neighbourhoods Fit for Diverse Young People': Civic Media Technologies for
Equitable Urban Governance" (YCiv) is partnership over 2.5 years between: Sheffield University
(UK); the International Institute for Environment and Development (IIED), (UK); and the Asian
Coalition for Housing Rights (ACHR), a regional network supporting community-led development,

and its members:
NGOs Lumanti (Nepal) and Hunnarshala (India), and academic partners in
Tribhuvan University (Nepal) and the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (India).

This exciting opportunity calls for a person to work over the 2.5 years with this international team, working closely with the research team at TUoS and liaising with various administrative units in TUoS, partner institutions, and the funder to ensure smooth administration of the project.

Project responsibilities will include support relating to setting up contracts with partners, facilitation of project travel and supporting workshop organisation, monitoring the project budget, helping with project audits and reporting, and if relevant, updating the project website and social media communications.
