To provide high quality administrative support to fee earners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Photocopying/scanning documents and collating enclosures
  • Creation of Crown Court Folders
  • Liaising with Courts, CPS, Probation, Prisons and Counsel
  • Booking meetings
  • Ordering stationery and ensuring adequate supplies are maintained
  • Opening new files and initial correspondence
  • Creating Slings / filing and maintaining filing cabinet
  • Assisting with maintaining police station diary and folders
  • Requesting files or returning archives to storage
  • Dealing with telephone / walk in enquiries
  • Dealing with internal and external queries in a fast / effective manner
  • Preparing private bills and liaising with accounts
  • Typing digital dictation and preparing documents for dispatch ensuring accuracy
  • Proof reading typing from external typing service and amending for dispatch
Person Specification


Qualifications & Experience

  • Good passes in Maths and English at GCSE level or equivalent
  • Minimum of one years' experience working in a similar role within a Criminal law environment desirable, but training can be provided.

Skills and Experience

  • An accurate and fast audio typist, minimum 60 wpm.
  • Knowledge of legal services provided by the firm
  • Excellent telephone manner / Client care
  • Advanced working knowledge of MS Office
  • A good command of written and verbal English
  • Hard working, reliable, enthusiastic and proactive
  • Ability to work on own initiative, prioritise workload and meet deadlines.
  • Quick learner with the ability to function effectively under pressure.
  • Able to work well in a team
