We are seeking to appoint 1 full-time Locum Consultant Neuroradiologist for 9 months at Nottingham University Hospitals. We have created this post to match the increasing local and regional demand for Neuroradiology imaging.


The successful applicants will share responsibility with 13 other colleagues for the provision of all aspects of Neuro imaging in our Trust with possible future expansion to the Trusts within the regional network.

Main duties of the job

To provide, along with Consultant colleagues, a comprehensive elective and emergency on-call service related to Neuro Radiology.


The posts include sessions for reporting time for Plain Film, MRI and CT, performing ultrasound and fluoroscopy/US guided procedures and participation in multidisciplinary meetings.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities


The post will be primarily located at the Queen's Medical Centre campus although the successful applicant will be required to provide sessions at the sites where we provide a Neuroradiology service.


A successful applicant would be required to be part of a dedicated Neuroradiology on call rota, which will have a frequency of 1:12.

Essential criteria

  • Full GMC registration
  • Entry onto the Specialist Register
Professional Qualifications/Development

Essential criteria

  • FRCR or Equivalent
  • Hold or be within six months of obtaining CCT or equivalent
Desirable criteria

  • MRCP, MRCS or other professional or higher
Clinical Skills/Experience

Essential criteria

  • Proven training and experience in neuroradiology.
  • Able to communicate effectively and appropriately with patients, their families and other health professionals
  • High standard of clinical skills, including skills required for on call rota in the department
  • Experience of UK healthcare systems
Desirable criteria

  • Evidence of Specialist Neuroradiology training
  • Specific training in communication skills
  • Specific training in patient safety and/or human factors
