Description
Due to company expansion, 2024 is an exciting year for OCU Group. We have an opportunity for a Procurement Officer to join our team in Taunton.


The Procurement Officer will be responsible for Procurement Team management, managing the procurement process to ensure the acquisition of goods and services required for the organisation's operations.

This role involves sourcing suppliers, negotiating contracts, and monitoring procurement activities to achieve cost savings, quality standards, and compliance with regulatory requirements.


Duties and Responsibilities:


Sourcing and Supplier Management:


  • Identify potential suppliers through market research, networking, and soliciting bids.
  • Evaluate suppliers based on factors such as price, quality, reliability, and delivery time.
  • Negotiate contracts, terms, and conditions with suppliers to secure favourable terms for the organisation.
  • Maintain relationships with existing suppliers and develop new supplier partnerships to enhance procurement options.

Procurement Process Management:


  • Coordinate the procurement process from requisition to purchase order issuance, ensuring timely delivery of goods and services.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand procurement needs and requirements.
  • Prepare, raise and review purchase orders, contracts, and other procurement documents for accuracy and compliance.
  • Monitor day to day procurement activities to ensure adherence to budgetary constraints, procurement policies, and regulatory standards.

Cost Analysis and Savings Initiatives:


  • Analyse procurement spend data to identify costsaving opportunities and improve procurement efficiency.
  • Implement costsaving initiatives, such as bulk purchasing, supplier consolidation, and renegotiation of contracts.
  • Track and report on procurement savings achieved through cost reduction measures.

Supplier Relationship Management:


  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to foster collaboration, resolve issues, and address performance concerns.
  • Conduct supplier performance evaluations and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Manage disputes, claims, and contract variations with suppliers in a timely and professional manner.

Compliance and Risk Management:


  • Ensure compliance with procurement policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct risk assessments of suppliers and procurement processes to mitigate potential risks.
  • Monitor supplier performance against contractual obligations and take appropriate actions to mitigate risks to the organisation.

Skills and Experience:


  • Team Management
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Procurement, or related field.
  • Proven experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain management roles.
  • Strong negotiation skills and the ability to build effective relationships with suppliers.
  • Excellent analytical and problemsolving abilities, with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in procurement software and tools, such as ERP systems (ideally Microsoft Dynamics 365)
  • Knowledge of procurement best practices, contract law, and regulatory requirements.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
  • Certification in procurement or supply chain management (e.g., CIPS) is desirable but not essential.
