We have worked with this Plymouth based company for many years, and we are sourcing an Principal Civil Engineer to help run their Civil Infrastructure department.


Company

Said company are a Scottish engineering consultancy business (although a lot of their offices are in England), they have over 550 staff covering wide ranges of disciplines throughout the United Kingdom.

They have been running since 1902, with 18 locations inthe UK. They provide a comprehensive range of civil engineering design, for commercial, residential and retail projects.

Currently the majority of the Plymouth offices work is based outside of the South West, and they would like to be acquire more local work.

The Plymouth office is only 6 strong at the moment, and looking to grow as they are growing more in the south west.


Current Projects

The company works on mainly Retail and Commercial projects, such as London Underground sub-surface track works, a multi-ten million distribution centre for a major top 4 Supermarket, an 11,000 square metre business park with a two story car park that can holshundreds of vehicles.

The multidiscipline construction of a Higher-class Brand Supermarket.

Jobs and Responsibilities
In this role you will need to be able to:

  • Manage the Civil Infrastructure Team
  • Oversee the drawing and design of different and niche builds such as a Jetty for 40,0000 ton vessels
  • Finding and securing new jobs for the business
  • Use contacts and past experience to help the business grow
  • Help the junior staff grow and mature
  • Calculating and drawing external hard standing builds

Qualifications
You will need to be Chartered or working towards Chartership, with lots of experience in the workplace,

You will also need to be fluent in:

  • Civils3D
  • Microdrainage
  • AutoCAD
  • PDS Software


It would also be recommended to have a firm desire to want to work sustainably, with an eye on the future.
