Payroll Officer - Burgess Hill FTC 12 MONTHS**
Up to £33,075 per annum DOE

Hours: 35 hours per week

The Role:

As one of our team of Payroll Officers, from our e-rostering system, you will collate the monthly hours and shifts worked and also process returns submitted from our regional offices and services and ensure the data is accurately entered into the Trust's payroll and HR system.


Main Responsibilities will include:
but not limited to


  • As part of the team, processing payments for approximately 1200 hourly paid staff and 400 salaried staff.
  • Being familiar with company policies and guidelines to be able to assist services with accurate information and guidance in their treatment of certain payroll matters and payments.
  • Maintaining a computerised Payroll system. This would entail inputting starting and leaving employees, processing payments and assisting as appropriate or required with monthend procedures and shutdowns.
  • Calculating SSP, SMP, SAP, SPP, company sick pay, contracted hours, holiday and all other types of payments.
  • Ensuring accurate deductions from pay which may include, pension, attachment of earnings, student loans and medical insurance and maintaining detailed records as appropriate.
  • Maintaining filing system updating with leavers and new employees. Archiving annual information and generally ensuring electronic files are up to date.

We're looking for someone with the following skills and qualities:

  • Knowledge of payroll principles, and legislation requirements
  • Knowledge and experience of calculating Statutory Payments
  • Experience of all aspects of payroll payments and Starters and Leavers processes
  • Attention to detail and accuracy skills
  • Able to work within strict processing deadlines
  • Excellent IT knowledge and skills working to a high Excel standard
  • Excellent communication skills
