Description

To directly manage the GMMH Safeguarding Service, responsible for day to day work assigned to team and to lead the safeguarding adults and children strategic direction within GMMH NHS Foundation Trust.


The post holder will lead the provision of an efficient, effective and high quality professional and well-co-ordinated service, capable of meeting all Safeguarding statutory, regulatory and NHS requirements ensuring alignment with the activity of the organisation.

To support the Trust and Care Groups in the delivery of an agreed set of safeguarding standards and supporting any development activity that may be required as a result.

To have an overall role in coordinating the Trust's response to Serious Case Reviews/statutory investigations.


The post holder will provide safeguarding leadership and expertise over safeguarding strategy and operations to ensure robust safeguarding functions, competence and safe systems throughout the Organisation.

The safeguarding functions will reflect the trust objectives and support the delivery of the Trusts Quality Strategy.


The post holder will work with external stake holders, partners and networks to ensure robust engagement and partnership delivery of the safeguarding agenda.

The post holder will be responsible for:

  • Managing the team's business support function, including developing and managing the team's annual business plan, progress and performance reporting and risk and issue management
  • Engagement with all corporate business areas, including planning and contract returns
  • Develop and implement a system to ensure information is properly managed and best practice is shared across the team, N and Q Directorate and the wider organisation.
  • Oversight and management of all aspects of the Safeguarding Service budgets and service specifications.
