Are you an experienced Health and Safety Manager who is able to deliver the safety objectives of our rapidly growing business?


We have a new opportunity for a Health and Safety Manager to join our QSHE department, making a significant contribution to a multi-disciplined team.

You will be self-motivated, able to work alone with excellent written and verbal skills, show initiative,adaptability and a persuasive personality.


Brightwell Dispensers Group is a global designer and leading manufacturer of innovative soap, paper and chemical dispensers, dilution equipment and dosing systems.

Based in the UK, we export to 85 countries worldwide, supported by a network of exclusivedistributors.

Our product ranges cover all hygiene environments such as away-from-home washrooms, healthcare and leisure facilities, on-premise and industrial laundries and professional kitchens.


Key areas of responsibility:


  • Develop and administer effective occupational health, safety, ergonomics and industrial hygiene programs, including health services functions and maintenance of related policy and procedures in accordance with Brightwell Ltd and ISO 45000 requirements.
  • Be knowledgeable in Manufacturing Best Practices and applicable safety programs.
  • Educate, motivate and train employees and production personnel in effective safety programs, 6S practices, safe work procedures, PPE, etc.
  • Administer and manage the external contractors for the completion of testing and validation of fire, legionella, emergency evacuation, COSHH assessments, racking inspections, LEV tests.
  • Manage the annual occupational health monitoring program through external sources.
  • Ensure all PPE is fit for purpose and according to company standards.
  • Conduct regular H&S inspections/audits and produce effective reports to illustrate compliance with applicable health and safety standards.
  • Develop and implement effective site safety programs for the identification, prevention and control of occupational injuries and illnesses.
  • Manage and coordinate site health and safety induction, trainings and behaviourbased safety programs.
  • Maintain current awareness of applicable laws and regulations through the legal register.
  • Maintain legal, governmental and company environmental, health, medical and safetyrelated records according to standards, including confidentiality.
  • Manage and maintain accurate accident, incident and near miss records and ensure the applicable RIDDOR reporting is controlled.
  • Administer the site hazard communication program, including maintaining up to date SDS's, effective identification of all chemicals, carrying out CoSHH assessments, chemical inventory and related training and education programs.
  • Serve on the company QSHE committee as Co-Chairperson and produce minutes.
  • Liaise with Production managers for all ongoing H&S initiatives.
  • Support Production managers with the creation, development and review of risk assessments, PUWER assessments and associated training documentation.
  • Support visiting inspectors and report findings.
  • Review all manufacturing and support operations to assure ongoing safety.
  • Assist each site in developing risk assessments and safe operating procedures for all tasks.
  • Support the Environmental and Quality teams during external audits as required.
  • Manage and report the company safety objectives, KPI performance and incident rates.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

You will be able to demonstrate:

  • H&S Diploma / NEBOSH / IOSH
  • 5 years' experience of working in a management role with H&S responsibility.
  • ISO Lead auditor.
  • Practical experience of growing H&S management systems within a crossfunctional manufacturing facility.

Desirable Criteria

  • Knowledge of injection moulding and automated assembly.
  • Understanding of CDM and permit to work systems.
  • Experience of maintaining a H&S system across multiple sites.
  • Developing safety training packages.
