GE Vernova's Digital business in the UK is seeking sharp, personable, highly organized interns who are looking to expand their technical and professional skills, all while working on substantial real-world projects electrifying and decarbonizing the world.

Over a 12-month internship starting June/July 2024 you will have the opportunity to explore the digital technologies created by GE Vernova as well as work alongside the industry's best engineers while building a career with unlimited potential.


  • You must be eligible to work in the UK and be willing to attend the office a minimum of three days per week.

You will be involved in GE Digital's AM (Asset Management) related projects, focusing on implementation, configuration and development of AM solutions for customers in the region, based on the Smallworld product portfolio.


You will be introduced to Utility & Telco domains and will be guided on related technologies and software we use.

Interns will be guided by structured goals through well-defined onboarding process and gradually be involved in delivery of our AM projects.

You will be fully coached, trained by a mentors and will have a strong support network of experienced staff that are able to help them on technical problems, soft skills and time management.

The intern will gain exciting real-world software engineering experience at a thriving company which is committed to make an impact in the energy world.

This role would suit someone who welcomes challenges, works collectively as a team in diverse environments and is able to work with a mixture of new and old technologies.

What you'll be doing:


  • Collaborate on Smallworld projects, working alongside other engineers to configure, develop and manage the deployment of intricate enterprise software solutions suite.
  • Contribute to various project activities, including data manipulation, server deployment, solution design, documentation, testing, troubleshooting and issue resolution.
  • You will contact colleagues, customers and various stakeholders in your daytoday job which willrequire good interpersonal, effective communication and presentation skills both verbal and written.

What you'll need to success:


  • Following Degree paths accepted: Software Engineering, Computer Science, IT, Electronics and Electrical Engineering or similar.
  • Familiarity with Unix/Linux/Windows environments.
  • Experience programming in Python, Java or Javascript.
  • Understanding of OOP concepts.
  • Knowledge of GeoSpatial solutions.
  • Knowledge of Databases, SQL, Oracle.
  • Understanding of DevOps with tools like GitHub, Jenkins, Docker, Ansible, Kubernetes and others.
  • Familiarity with Agile Methodology.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Access).
  • Good command of the English language, with an additional appreciation for other European languages.
  • Excellent analytical and mathematics skills.
  • Ability to accurately follow work process instructions.
