Commercial Manager - Commercial Advisory and Business Transformation


Mazars' Commercial Advisory and Business Transformation team works across the public and private sectors helping our clients to manage their businesses, contracts, and medium and large-scale projects efficiently, facilitating growth and innovation.

We supportour clients with the development of business strategies, business integration, and reviews of complex and long-term contracts. We offer continual improvement programmes and facilitate the introduction of best practices. Our team works across all industriesincluding renewable energy, power and utilities, transport, oil and gas, health, housing, and education.


Job Purpose
As a Commercial Manager within the Management Consulting team you will be involved in all aspects of project delivery. You will contribute to and underpin the management of client engagements working closely with senior representatives of client organisations.

Inaddition to working with Management Consulting and other colleagues in the delivery of projects in the above areas, you will proactively seek and steer the conversion of opportunities to develop the Management Consulting team.


Role & Responsibilities


This role is for an ambitious and driven professional, who can work alongside our existing Commercial Advisory team to grow a profitable business portfolio, develop collaborative relationships with our clients, understand their needs and help to find a bespokesolution.


  • 5 years + strong postqualification experience in a field such as commercial management, contract management, procurement and subcontractor's and supplier's management.
  • A good understanding of the effective contract management practices and ability to roll out respective processes and procedures for Mazars clients (Renewable Energy, Hydrogen and Infrastructure projects are the main focus)
  • Experience in conducting detailed commercial assurance, assessment of contract performance and undertaking cost management reviews of various contracts including major infrastructure projects and PFI contracts with support from the wider multiskilled team
  • Experience in using standard contract forms (e.g., NEC)
  • Ability to clearly develop, produce and communicate findings to stakeholders using a variety of mediums including visualisation tools, dashboards, trackers, periodic reports etc.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with the service teams across Mazars (Global Infrastructure, Chris and Disputes, Risk and Internal Audit, Public sector team) and Mazars clients
  • Capability to undertake analysis of complex and high volumes of structured and unstructured data and present it in a simple and concise way using dashboards and other visual tools where applicable (desirable)

  • Responsible for contributing to planning, managing, and executing projects (large scale) on time and within budget, alongside managers and Partners. Responsible for providing a project delivery foundation to managersand junior team members as appropriate. Responsible for developing and maintaining strong longterm client relationships.

  • Manage and coach junior consulting resources in client and practice delivery. Undertake line management duties as appropriate.

Practice Management

  • Alongside Management Consulting team take a functional role in the development of new business initiatives and alternative approaches to solving client problems. Develop new go to market service offerings and new methodologiesand project accelerators.

Skills and Experience

  • Strong contracting and contract management experience
  • Excellent commercial acumen and business understanding
  • Ability to identify issues and areas for improvement through analysis
  • Team orientated, with strong relationship and interpersonal skills
  • Intermediate to advanced computer software skills (MS Office and other relevant software)
  • Client or senior stakeholderfacing experience (5+ years)

Education and Qualifications

  • BSc in Commercial Management, Commercial or Construction Law or similar an advantage
  • NEC4 accreditations (desirable)
  • A relevant professional qualification, such as RICS
