Job summary:

Headquarters Allied Rapid Reaction Corps (HQ ARRC) is a multi-national force HQ within Army and NATO Force Structure. It is staffed by regular Army personnel, NATO Visiting Forces personnel (Participating Nations), Civil Servants and contractors.

The HQ ARRC Housing Officer (HO) is an integral team member of the Participating Nations (PN) Policy Cell.

The PN Policy Cell is a key function within the ARRC and delivers support and administrative services to around 150 NATO Participating Nations (PN) military personnel.

Its purpose is to support the seamless and successful integration into UK life of PN personnel, and to provide continued support and assistance throughout the individual's time in the UK.

The HO leads on the delivery of a comprehensive and proactive Service Families Accommodation (SFA) housing service to HQ ARRC's PN personnel, and is responsible for the day-to-day engagement with the Service Housing Contractor on behalf of all Innsworth Station personnel.

The HO acts as a conduit between the Housing Contractor and Deputy Assistant Chief of Staff Personnel Operations and provides essential support to other attached units.

The HO will have the opportunity to make a vital contribution in support of PN personnel. This is a unique and highly rewarding role, with fascinating breadth, and exposure to different cultures.

As a Civil Servant, you will work alongside UK and international military and civil service colleagues in a job that matters, a job which has a direct impact on the operational effectiveness delivered by the Army and HQ ARRC.

This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.

Job description:

You will lead on the delivery of a comprehensive and proactive SFA housing service.

This service is delivered primarily to PN personnel who require increased levels of advice and assistance in order to effectively navigate UK SFA regulations as they prepare to relocate to the UK, but also to UK HQ ARRC personnel and the wider service community housed within the Innsworth catchment area.

The postholder works closely with the Support Battalion Unit Welfare Officer (Sp Bn UWO), the Housing Contractor and a variety of other stakeholders to continually manage the housing stock and thereby ensure provision of efficient and effective housing solutions for the customer.

Key areas of responsibility include:

  • Effectively manage the SFA housing stock in accordance with the Housing Priority List by liaising directly and regularly with Housing Contractors, alerting line management to any potential housing issues arising as part of the allocation process.
  • Manage all administrative processes and documentation on behalf of PN personnel to assist with the smooth transition into SFA.
  • Attend all 'Move-Ins' with PN staff and their families. Offer support, advice and guidance while also acting as the intermediary between the customer and the contractor.
  • Act as the main point of contact on SFA. Respond to enquiries from all military personnel on housing issues and offer advice and support as required.
  • Fully assist PN staff in implementing the SFA complaints procedure and provide advice on the process.
  • Proactively act as a conduit between service families and the Housing Contractor.
  • Engage proactively to develop and maintain effective working relationships with key stakeholders including internal and external agencies/organisations.
  • Remain alert to any UK SFA policy or regulatory changes which may impact the delivery of an efficient housing service.
  • Advise on updates to the Integrated Estates Management Plan as required.

Person specification:
