Executive Heads have been retained to appoint a Head of Operations for a leading niche retailer.


Head of Operations (Warehousing & Logistics)

Up to £80,000 + Bonus and Benefits

Background:

The business is nearly 40 years old and has grown significantly over the last 15 years.

They are investing in the development of the business to maintain their growth and ensure they hit their ambitious growth targets over the next 5 years.


Purpose:


Reporting to the COO, the Head of Operations will be responsible for delivering a customer first, warehouse and logistics operation, focused on ensuring that customers get goods delivered on time and in full at every.

The business has a high trust, non-political, hardworking, and committed culture.

This is an excellent opportunity to take a leading role in the management team, work alongside the executive team, and steer all aspects of the warehousing and logistics operations and strategy.

The warehouse is approximately 5 years old and 50,000 square feet.


Key Duties and Responsibilities:

This is a varied and challenging role with a mix of strategic, tactical and operations duties including:

  • Manage a team of circa 35 including a small team of administration staff.
  • Coaching and developing the warehouse team to create a highperforming and efficient culture.
  • Liaising with the Chief Product Officer to understand order patterns and requirements and feedback on any quality issues.
  • Responsibility for the warehouse operating budget and courier contract costs
  • Providing regular reporting and feedback to the Executive Leadership team.
  • Devising, instigating, and monitoring key performance indicators
  • Implement and develop bestinclass processes and systems to ensure efficient and effective operation.
  • Manage quality control, rework tasks and kitting and assembly areas.
  • Devising effective workflows and storage solutions by utilising continuous improvement and lean methodologies.

The Person:


We are looking for a professional, commercially astute, and driven individual with a demonstrable track record of leading and managing a similar operation.

We need someone with the gravitas and capability to work with the executive team to steer the strategy but with a hands-on approach to coach and develop the team and ensure the customer always comes first.

The role requires someone who is goal-orientated and target focused, who is driven and strong-willed with a good balance of social and analytical capabilities.
