Mechanical Design Engineer

Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer

Job Type: Permanent Full-time Position

Key Details:

37 Hours Per Week
Location: Southampton, Hampshire

Salary Range: £33,000 - £53,000 depending on experience.

About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for:

Main Responsibilities:

To progress the technical delivery of engineering projects as allocated.
To provide technical support to the Commercial Department.
To produce high-quality engineering designs and associated documents within SolidWorks.
To analyze and understand technical tender specifications, creating accurate tender design estimates.
To peer review concept designs, 3D CAD scheme designs, and detailed manufacturing drawings.
To produce substantiation of engineering designs through hand calculations.
To develop concept designs, full 3D scheme designs, and 2D detail designs for manufacture.
To mentor and support junior team members in their growth and development.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate will possess:

HNC/HND Engineering Discipline (Mechanical).
Engineering Degree (BEng / MSc).
Experience working within Nuclear/Highly Regulated Industry.
Proficiency in 2D/3D CAD design software (Solidworks or similar).
Concept, scheme, and detail design engineering experience for manufacturing.

Security Clearance:

UK National Security Vetting Status – Applicants must be able to obtain BPSS Clearance.
