Role description
The primary responsibility of the Head of Operations is to manage the five operating units within Operations supporting:
Cleared Derivatives

FX & CFDs

Regulatory Reporting both to Cleared Derivative Exchanges and central regulators such as the FCA and ESMA.

Brokerage and Treasury

Securities

The Head of Operations will report to the Chief Operating Officer.


Key responsibilities

  • Establish and provide clear vision, direction and visible leadership for the Britannia Global Markets Operations.
  • Ensure commercial focus and work in complete partnership with the business, delivering financial and business performance. Improve operational efficiency and drive towards Operational Excellence
  • Work with Energy and Commodities business heads, and supporting functions, to build a close and effective working relationship, providing strategic input, support and counsel as required and contribute fully to all key commercial decision making.
  • Influence strategy and overall business direction for the company.
  • Empower direct reports to manage their areas efficiently, effectively and to agreed targets and measures.
  • Actively manage risk associated with Operations in accordance with the firms Enterprise Risk Management Framework including full participation in any Risk Forums and committees.
  • Prepare and execute delivery of change to support the overall business strategy in line with the firm's Operations strategy.
  • Ensure the department operates in a costeffective manner and propose an annual budget and cost framework for activities.
  • Responsibility for the organisational development and management of all employees within the function. This includes recruitment, motivating and developing employees so that the right level of resource with the appropriate skill and competencies are available.
  • Conduct performance management reviews
- ensure a culture of performance management in the department.

  • Pursue opportunities to improve the efficiency and agility of Operations in partnership with Technology and other internal stakeholders through continual improvement of processes,
- and technologies utilised.

  • Identify and drive opportunities where Technology can enhance and add to the services the firm provides to our clients.
  • Ensure that Operations is providing an excellent quality service to clients, both internal and external, and identify opportunities for continual service improvement.
  • Working with relevant policy owners and control functions, ensure that appropriate policies process, systems and controls are in place for Operations across E&C
  • Promote the role of Operations within Britannia Global Markets recognising the best outcomes for the function and the company.
  • Provide advice and support to peers in order to address issues in support of the wider company strategy.
  • Where possible represent the firm on industry bodies and forums, ensuring that Britannia Global Markets is visible within the wider market space positively influencing policy and competitor actions.
EXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Significant experience in a broker dealer environment with a delivery track record in three of the five operating units mentioned on page one is essential.
  • The ability to form relationships and act a trusted partner is critical to this role, as well as providing visible leadership and driving organisational change.
  • Good people management skills and the ability to work in a fastpaced business.
  • Capable of building relationships of trust with desk & business heads
  • Ability to collaborate and maintain stakeholder support whilst ensuring the appropriate Operational controls are in place.
  • Passionate and enthusiastic, with a drive to deliver shows persistence and resilience in
- face of difficulties. Brings positive energy to the team.

  • Excellent commercial acumen and focus. Ability to help shape/drive strategy.
  • Calm and balanced during challenging times able to direct the team to complete.
