Role Summary:

The Operations Implementation Lead should have significant experience in the pensions industry and a strong technical pensions background.


The Operations Implementation Lead is responsible for effectively managing the on-boarding of new clients within EQ Paymaster Operations and the leading and mentoring a small team.

The role is accountable for ensuring new business is on-boarded through toa functioning business as usual status, using the agreed project management methodology and good working relationships with key stakeholders to facilitate the realisation of expected business practices.

The Operations Implementation Lead will support and drive a robust and recyclable on-boarding process.


Core Duties/Responsibilities:


  • Own and be responsible for the quality, sourcing and delivery of all implementation input from an Operations perspective
  • Uses own knowledge and technical expertise to support the development of sales material in respect of Operations creating a library of documents and information to reduce the future burden.
  • Leads the development and design of the solution for Operations; ensure the operational structure and target operating model is aligned to the agreed on boarding requirements.
  • Ensure required management information is produced, validated, issued on time and shared with the wider business as appropriate
  • Proactively share knowledge with colleagues to ensure best practice is promoted across the team and innovation is shared
  • Set clear Key Performance Indicators and Objectives for the Operational Implementation Specialists which drive focus and clarity of role.
  • Plan and optimise resources available to accommodate the bid and on boarding pipeline, escalating concerns and challenges.
  • To manage, guide and coach your direct reports utilising the performance and absence management frameworks.
  • Adhere to Group project delivery standards and methodologies suggesting areas for continuous improvement;
  • Accurately estimate and plan the scope and deliverables with the Project Manager.
  • Monitor progress against the plan, enabling projects to be delivered on time and within budget and providing progress reporting as required.
  • Lead and develop a team of Business Analysts to establish and deliver BA capability in the organisation, acting as a rolemodel to establish the desired behaviours;
  • Develop key business relationships to communicate and promote best practice across the organisation.

Skills, Capabilities and Attributes

  • Undertake analysis on implementation projects and/or enhancements for new and existing clients;
  • Analyse changes and enhancements to client's pensions systems;
  • Liaise with clients to define and understand requirements and estimate work.
  • Accurately estimate and plan deliverables. To monitor progress against plan enabling projects to be delivered on time and within budget, providing progress reporting as required;
  • Adhere to project estimating, planning, management and reporting procedures.
  • Produce user and pension systems documentation as required and agreed. Covering but not limited to scope documents, specification, and user guides.
  • Provide support to the administration teams and clients. Supporting the testing and rollout of the implementation.
  • Work within the correct boundaries of scope, incident management and change control;
  • Design and provide a solution which is fit for purpose and in line with budgetary constraints.
