Job Role:

To assist the Fleet Manager and technical management team with the following tasks, as expected from a junior marine superintendent.


Main Tasks:


  • To have a working knowledge of ECDIS and after a period of training, be the first point of contact for ECIDS issues including; training and issuing certificates were necessary.
  • To assist the technical team with arranging all safety and firefighting equipment servicing is serviced, and ensure it is maintained and certificated correctly.
  • Ensure the medical stores are compliant. fully stocked at all times and make any necessary purchases.
  • Assist technical managers with cadet training as required.
  • To handle the nautical publications for the office.
  • To oversee all gas meter testing, maintenance, and certificates issued. Training to be provided.
  • To deliver any Cyber security training and issue certificates where necessary.
  • Maintenance of office records for PSC, internal and external audits, SMS reviews and updates.
  • Be responsible for onboard software, including ISF Watchkeeper, PAYS and Sea Reader.
  • Assist with ship inspections as required.
  • Travels to vessels required, may including driving, and traveling abroad.

About You:


  • Has held a Certificate of Competency as a deck officer and
    sailed on General Cargo vessels.
  • Sailed with ECDIS (ideally Furuno) with a working knowledge and willing to undertake the required courses to provide training to the fleet.
  • Knowledge of ISM / ISPS / MLC and statutory certification requirements.
  • Understanding of the flexibility required to operate vessels in the short sea and to work extra hours to achieve the job, may have to work outside of normal hours.
  • Hold valid passport, full valid Driver's License and willing to travel and drive when required.
  • Travel to vessels and able to assist on board with tasks as required.
  • Experience with the standard Microsoft software.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Team player who is willing to assist others as required
  • Must have the right to live and work in the UK.
  • Willing to live within commuting distance to the company office in Rochester.
