Excellent SHEQ All Rounder required by Ferguson Transport & Shipping - to support Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality initiatives across the business's operations in road, rail, sea and port.

In this role the successful SHEQ Officer will be assisting in the documentation and management of SHEQ policies, procedures, regulations and legislation and Support the SHEQ Manager, Group Companies & Departments in the review & creating of quality, health and safety and environment documentation.


The Role:

Reporting to the SHEQ Manager, you will develop and measure the success of systems for waste management, renewable energy, recycling, pollution prevention and sustainability and help drive the business towards its goal of Net Zero in line with government guidance


The Role

  • Assisting with implementing SHEQ policies and practices
  • Assisting to ensuring compliance with environmental legislation
  • Assisting with the maintenance of company waste management licencing during projects including the Decommissioning of offshore assets
  • Assist with coordination all aspects of pollution control, waste management, recycling, environmental health, conservation and renewable energy
  • Assessing, analysing and collating environmental performance data and reporting information to colleagues, clients and regulatory bodies
  • Ensuring that materials are ethically and environmentally sourced across the business
  • Promote and raise awareness, at all levels within the business, of the impact of emerging environmental and sustainability issues
  • Implement best practice in areas of corporate, ethical and social responsibilities and address any issues arising
  • Assist with writing of environmental and sustainability plans and reports as required
  • Keeping up to date with relevant changes in environmental and sustainability legislation, including EU and International legislation where applicable
  • Conducting research and advice on best course of action based on research findings
  • Providing environmental and sustainability training to employees at all levels
  • Producing educational information resources for colleagues
  • Liaising with relevant bodies such as local authorities, public bodies and competent bodies as required

The Person

  • A minimum of 2 years experience in environmental management, environmental policy, or related discipline
  • Car drivers licence
  • Computer literate, especially in Excel and MS Word, PowerPoint. Training is provided for other office tools
  • Knowledge of ISO, and other relevant standards. Understanding of quality, environmental, energy, and sustainability processes and management practices.
