As a Trainee Planner you will support the scheduling within our machining, fabrication and assembly departments. Coordinating the flow of work and materials within or between these departments according to daily and weekly production schedules.

Interacting with department supervisors, production engineers and continuous improvement leaders to determine progress of work and completion dates, inventory levels and solving production problems to ensure adherence to the Master Schedule.


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Support with the planning and preparation of production schedules for fabrication, assembly and machine shop.
  • Assist with the master/discipline schedule to establish sequence and lead time of each operation to meet client forecasted master schedule.
  • Become familiar with in order to analyse production specifications and construction data and performs mathematical calculations to determine material, tools, and human resource requirements for the schedule. Prepares production reports.
  • Support in expediting operations that delay schedules and alters schedules to meet unforeseen conditions.
  • Ensure that accurate and complete accounting, reporting and internal control systems are functioning and that all relevant records are properly maintained.
  • In an accurate and timely manner produce project packets, shop packets, pick lists, production schedules, manufacturing orders, manufacturing requests, purchasing requisitions and daily action sheets. Also action in an accurate and timely manner project orders, forecasts, and availability requests.
  • Coordinates activities within adjoining teams to ensure efficiencies and effectiveness are the primary outcome.
  • To liaise with the sales team on delivery and availability issues related to fulfilling customer orders.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • HNC /HND in an Engineering discipline or equivalent (desirable).

EXPERIENCE:


  • Working knowledge and technical understanding of planning manufacturing activities within fabrication, assembly, machining and inspection techniques (desirable).
  • Machining, fabrication & welding procedures (desirable).

SKILLS, TRAINING & SPECIALIST KNOWLEDGE:


  • Computer literacy (including good command of Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook) (essential).
  • JDE (ERP) Systems (desirable).
  • Ability to interpret engineering documents (desirable).
