THE ROLE
As an Electrical and Instrumentation Trainee within SGN's Southern Major Projects Team, you will be responsible for supporting the delivery of electrical, instrumentation, control, metering and gas quality projects on SGN's transmission sites.
This two-year programme which will allow you the opportunity to be involved in a range of various tasks from project scoping, conceptual and detailed design, and project management to supporting safe delivery of project work.
- Project feasibility and conceptual design
- Technical coordination and involvement in detail design
- Support procurement activities to ensure compliance with relevant specifications
- Onsite supervision of installation activities
- Commissioning of all E&I aspects of gas network construction projects
- Managing projects to meet programme and budget constraints
- Coordination of project related activities interfacing with SGN Operations, Asset Management, Gas Control and other departments, and externally with third party designers, installation contractors, specialist suppliers and other interested parties
- Management of project documentation and drawings
- Cultivation of a safety culture throughout the projects

WHAT YOU'LL BRING
A recognised engineering qualification and ideally some experience of working in an engineering or construction environment. (educated to HND/C or degree level in Electrical engineering or a similar discipline)
Other skills we look for;
- The ability to get on well with all types of people e.g. members of the public, managers, customers, suppliers etc.
- An awareness of working within a budget and being costconscious.
- The ability to think on your feet whilst always being safety aware.
- Flexibility is essential in this role both in terms of hours of work and responsibilities (you may also be required to visit locations around the UK for training or to support team activities).
- Experience of Safety, Health and Environmental management within a project environment.
- The ability to understand and manage projects from inception to commissioning, meet tight timescales, multitask and react to changing priorities in a challenging environment.
As this role will involve a significant amount of travel, you must have a valid driving licence and be willing to spend time away from your primary location.
