Description

We are looking to recruit two highly motivated HCPC-registered Clinical or Counselling Psychologists with an interest in community psychology to an innovative post in Tower Hamlets Adult Mental health Psychology Service.

The post holders will provide psychological interventions to people with complex mental health needs.

They will also contribute to developing and maintaining partnership working with local community groups to promote social connections, community engagement and participation.

The post holders will contribute to staff supervision and training and provide psychological advice (informal, ad hoc, and formal consultation) to other staff, community workers, carers and people with lived experience of mental distress.


The posts are suitable for psychologists who are keen to embrace the privileges of working in a diverse borough and a commitment to working with people with complex mental health difficulties and from a range of religious, cultural and ethnic backgrounds as well as working in partnership with staff teams and community organisations to deliver psychologically informed care.

We aim to develop and deliver our services through co-production with people with lived experience. The department has an excellent relationship with People Participation and the local Recovery College. We would expect you to be fully committed to partnership working and co-production.

  • Provide highly developed specialist psychological assessments, based on the appropriate use, interpretation and integration of complex data from a variety of sources (including psychological tests, measures/rating scales including Recovery measures and Quality of Life measures, direct and indirect observation and semistructured interviews with clients, family members and involved others.)
  • Formulate plans for the formal psychological treatment and/or management of mental health problems across a range of care settings, based upon a theoretical knowledge base to analyse, interpret and compare complex information in order to design specialist programmes of treatment for individuals, groups and families tailored to individual need.
  • Provide expertise and psychological advice, guidance and consultation to other multidisciplinary professionals contributing directly to service users' formulation, diagnosis and service planning.
  • Ensure that multidisciplinary colleagues have access to a psychologically based framework for understanding the care of service users including the Recovery Approach.
